BREWERS FALL SHORT OF 10,000 SEASON-TICKET GOAL

For the third consecutive year, the Brewers "must turn
to the business community to cover a deficit created when
the club fell short of its stated goal of selling 10,000
season tickets," according to Tom Haudricourt in the
MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Brewers VP/Ticket Sales Bob
Voight announced the team had sold 8,220 season tickets for
'97, which represents an increase of 5% from the 7,855
season tickets sold last year. Under the team's agreement
with the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, the
business group must make up the difference in sales shy of
10,000, a deal made in an effort to help the Brewers "stay
afloat" until the opening of Miller Park. The "shortfall"
in sales this year bring the Association's total tab to $6M
since the deal was made (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/27).
