49ERS OFFER CITY RESIDENTS 5,000 TIX IN LATEST ELECTION MOVE

The 49ers, "in its latest move to win voter support in
Tuesday's election," said that about 5,000 tickets to 49ers
games at the proposed Candlestick Point stadium "will be
sold solely to San Francisco residents," according to Edward
Epstein of the S.F. CHRONICLE. The plan was announced as
U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer "and just
about every other female elected official in the city"
called on women to support Propositions D and F. Only 14-
15% of the team's season-ticket holders reside in the city
and 49ers President Carmen Policy said the idea is to set
aside a 5,000-seat section and designate it for city
     residents (S.F. CHRONICLE, 5/30). Today's CHRONICLE front
page features "Still Undecided? Stadium Issue In A
Nutshell" with a Q&A on some of the "volatile" issues (S.F.
     CHRONICLE, 5/30).
