FOX ALTERS FOXTRAX FOR RANGERS-FLYERS PLAYOFF GAME

Fox Sports "turned out the lights" on its glowing
hockey puck during Sunday's Rangers-Flyers game at the
CoreStates Center, according to USA TODAY's Michael
Hiestand. Fox kept the on-screen "'comet-tails' left by
slap shots but not the continuous blue glow around the
puck." Fox Executive Producer Ed Goren, on the change: "As
of today, I like what I see" (USA TODAY, 5/19). Fox told
THE DAILY that the comet-tail had appeared on previous
telecast only when the puck reached speeds of 70 mph. The
network lowered the required speed as of yesterday's
telecast in order for the comet-tail to appear more
regularly. The decision was made during ongoing discussions
between Fox and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman (THE DAILY).
