          The Black Coaches Association and Nike will team with
     the Cincinnati Recreation Commission to host a free youth
     basketball clinic on March 29 (BCA)....In Canada, the
     Federal Health Department will use athletes, including '96
     silver medal winning swimmer Marianne Limpert, to try to
     "pump some glamour" for an athletic lifestyle and to warn
     against the dangers of smoking (TORONTO STAR, 3/21)....In
     Toronto, Norris McDonald writes on bill C-71, which would
     prevent tobacco sponsorship of sports and arts events:
     "Unless some of the sponsors of sports and arts events come
     up with some exceptional arguments in the new few weeks, or
     Prime Minister Jean Chretien calls an election and the bill
     dies, this legislation is going to become law and auto-
     racing fans can kiss goodbye to the Player's Grand Prix of
     Canada and start preparing to say so long to the Molson Indy
     Toronto ... and the Molson Indy Vancouver" (Toronto GLOBE &
     MAIL, 3/21)....AL-based Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc.
     reported sales for the fourth quarter, ended February 1,
     1997, increased 26.4% to a record $26.8M from sales of
     $22.0M for FY '96 (Hibbett).....PGA Tour player Chip Beck
     and PowerBilt Golf have terminated their relationship by
     "mutual agreement."  Beck's four-year contract had 11 months
     remaining (GOLFWEEK, 3/15 issue)....Reebok Int'l will be a
     first-time advertiser in the April issue of "Launch," a CD-
     ROM music magazine from 2Way Media.  The ad lets a PC user
     "spin and view" a shoe (AD AGE, 3/21).
