SOX OWNER HARRINGTON AND BOSTON MAYOR TO DISCUSS BALLPARK

Red Sox Owner John Harrington and Boston Mayor Thomas
Menino will meet before the MLB opener to discuss the team's
search for a new stadium in what may be "a new chapter in
another local stadium saga," according to Richard Chacon of
the BOSTON GLOBE. The last time Harrington and Menino
discussed a new or renovated Fenway Park was two years ago,
when the Megaplex proposal for a combined convention center
and stadium was considered. In February, city officials
"casually" proposed expanding one side of Fenway Park over
the MA Turnpike, but Gov. William Weld signed a bill
yesterday that "might affect" Fenway negotiations. The
legislation requires the Turnpike Authority to sign a
memorandum of understanding with the City of Boston for
future development projects. Red Sox officials "have
expressed concerns about the feasibility" of expanding the
current Fenway site (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/21).
