IF FOUR-PACKS ARE NOT SELLING, WILL CHISOX TRY SIX-PACKS?

Tickets for the White Sox' "four-pack" ticket plan on
sale for the June 16-18 interleague games at Comiskey Park
between the Cubs, have been selling "slowly but steadily,"
White Sox Senior VP/Marketing Rob Gallas tells Phil Rogers
of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Gallas said it is "too problematic"
to determine exactly how may tickets have been sold, but
Rogers notes with lower-deck seats almost sold out, it would
mean sales of almost 25,000. Sox Chair Jerry Reinsdorf
introduced the "four-pack" strategy, requiring fans to buy
tickets for one of three groups of three designated games to
gain tickets to the Cubs games, because they wanted "as few
Cubs fans as possible" in Comiskey. Gallas said the "most
common complaint" from fans has been that it is unfair to
"force" people to buy tickets for three other games because
they may only be attending the June series. Gallas: "I'm
amazed at how many people are going to be in Chicago just
for those three days only" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 3/20).
FIRST, THE OPENER: The TRIBUNE's Rogers adds that the
White Sox "have more immediate concerns than the Cubs
series," as "only" about 30,000 seats have been sold for the
home opener. Gallas: "Opening day is a little quiet."
Gallas adds Sox season-ticket sales have increased more than
10% from last year to about 14,000 (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 3/20).
