FRANCHISE NOTES

Chiefs & MLS Crew Owner Lamar Hunt is interviewed in
the BUSINESS FIRST OF COLUMBUS. Hunt, who is leading
Columbus' NHL expansion effort, on the city's expansion
chances: "Without being too optimistic, I think we have an
excellent chance. The obvious key is the arena -- without
the arena we have no chance" (BUSINESS FIRST OF COLUMBUS,
3/10 issue)....In N.Y., gossip columnist Neal Travis writes
"it doesn't look like there will be any kind of management
shake-up" at MSG. At a lunch between Cablevision Chair
Charles Dolan, his son and company CEO Jim, Vice Chair Marc
Lustgarten and MSG execs "everyone seemed to be getting
along famously" (N.Y. POST, 3/12)....Funds managed by Mario
Gabelli bought 103,700 Cablevision shares, representing
0.76% of the outstanding issues, last week for $33.19-
33.625/share. Since February 20, the Gabelli funds have
increased their stake in Cablevision from 26.74% to 27.79%
(N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 3/12)....In St. Pete, Hubert Mizell noted
the recent firings of longtime Bucs employees, Ticket
Manager Rick Odioso and equipment manager Frankie Pupello:
"Why can't the Glazers please make a vow ... about keeping
their NFL community better informed? Why aren't they around
to make comments, via the media, when negative news breaks -
     - like a hike in ticket prices -- rather than showing up
with family smiles only when there's a stadium issue or a
ticket package to be marketed" (ST. PETE TIMES, 3/11).
