ESPN STEPS UP TO THE PLATE WITH MLB PRODUCTION ENHANCEMENTS

ESPN has added some changes to its production of MLB
games, effective with its first broadcast on April 1. The
network will provide In-Game Box Scores that will run an up-
to-date box score of the game along the bottom of the
screen. Another new feature is the Robotic Camera Behind
Home Plate. During select Sunday night telecasts, a robotic
camera will be attached to a screen behind home plate which
will offer a replay of infield action. Finally, the
Diamond/Pitch Speed in Score Box will display a diamond in
the score box, illustrating the position of the runners, and
after each pitch, the speed of the pitch will appear in the
lower left portion of the score box (ESPN).
LEGENDS: Starting tonight at 8:30pm ET, ESPN presents
"Legends of Hockey," a five-part documentary looking at the
history of hockey in North America (ESPN). In L.A., Helene
Elliott calls it an "entertaining but incomplete look at the
history of hockey in North America" (L.A. TIMES, 3/11).
