MEDIA NOTES

The TIMES' Richard Sandomir writes CBS made a "bad
judgement" in deciding to show the IMG/TWI produced special
on Tiger Woods before its final-round coverage of the
Masters. Sandomir notes IMG "can surely do all it wants to
control Woods's image, but must CBS buy into it to get
     programming?" (N.Y. TIMES, 2/28)....In L.A., Larry Stewart
notes a judge's ruling in favor of Fox Sports West 2 in its
right to carry Mighty Ducks games. Stewart: "The ruling
means that Fox Sports West 2 is going to survive. ... it
must be the cable operators. Like it or not, it's time for
cable operators to bite the bullet and add Fox Sports West
2" (L.A. TIMES, 2/28)....Former Lions coach Wayne Fontes is
expected to decide today whether to do color commentary on a
limited basis for the Fox Network's cable telecasts of World
League football (DETROIT NEWS, 2/28). ....HBO's "Real Sports
with Bryant Gumbel" returns on March 10 with stories on the
legacy of Curt Flood by Spike Lee; a profile of Wake
Forest's Tim Duncan and an examination of the state of
women's professional boxing (HBO)....Fox Sports News added
Lionel Bienvenu as an anchor to its live, nightly show.
Bienvenu had been with Fox-affiliate WVUE-TV in New Orleans
for ten years as a sports reporter and anchor (Fox Sports
Net)....Primestar Partners said it "will become profitable"
in the fourth quarter after it reaches 2 million
subscribers. Primestar Chair Jim Gray: "We think our rate
of growth will continue" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 2/28)....On
ABC's "Good Morning America," Joel Siegel named "The NBA at
50" as one of his "videos of the month" ("GMA," ABC, 2/28).
