MEDIA NOTES

          CTV has announced the name of its sports cable channel,
     which is jointly owned by CTV, Rogers cable, Molson, and
     Fox.  It will be called CTV Sports Net (Toronto GLOBE &
     MAIL, 2/27)....NBC showed "record operating profits" of
     $953M in '96, a 29% increase over the prior year, due in
     part to "profitable" Summer Olympics coverage (HOLLYWOOD
     REPORTER, 2/27)....The Orioles officially announced Michael
     Reghi to handle play-by-play on the club's TV broadcasts. 
     Jim Palmer and Mike Flanigan will return as analysts.  Reghi
     was play-by-play for the Cavs (WASHINGTON POST, 2/27)....The
     "NBA at 50" home video has debuted on the Billboard
     Recreational Sports Video Chart for the week of March 1, at
     No. 1 (NBA)....SportsChannel OH has added Cincinnati CBS
     affiliate WKRC-TV to its Reds TV Network (SportsChannel).
     ...The Texas Motor Speedway has named the Dallas area's
     WBAP-AM the Official Broadcast Station of the Speedway
     (Texas Motor Speedway)....CTV's NBA All-Star game rating two
     weeks ago drew 811,000 viewers, which was "down
     significantly" from last year's 1.1 million (Toronto GLOBE &
     MAIL, 2/27).
