          Former Bills QB Jim Kelly said he has spoken with NBC
     Sports President Dick Ebersol and will be talking to ESPN
     about broadcasting possibilities.  Kelly: "It's something
     that I would consider if all the circumstances were right"
     ("Up Close," ESPN, 2/19)....NY-based ACTV Inc. has reached a
     deal with Fox Sports Southwest (FOXSW) for the right to
     include all FOXSW live pro and collegiate telecasts on the
     new ACTV regional entertainment network which will launch
     later this year (ACTV)....NJ-based Statistical Research said
     yesterday that AT&T and Procter & Gamble has agreed to help
     finance its efforts to introduce a national TV audience
     measuring system to compete against Nielsen Media Research
     called Systems for Measuring and Reporting Television, or
     SMART (N.Y. TIMES, 2/20)....The Red Wings have released a
     CD-ROM yearbook produced by Olympia Entertainment.  Olympia
     is owned by Red Wings Owners Mike and Marian Ilitch (CRAIN'S
     DETROIT BUSINESS, 2/17 issue). ...The Golf Channel says it
     has more than 7.5 million households, with a year-end goal
     of 14 million (CABLE WORLD, 2/17 issue)....Dallas-based
     Media Sports Partnership has formed Radio Shows Ltd., a
     syndicated arm specializing in long- and short-form talk and
     sports programming (BROADCASTING & CABLE, 2/17 issue).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
