FRANCHISE NOTES

In Sunday's BOSTON GLOBE, Will McDonough examined the
"breaking point" between Pats Owner Robert Kraft and coach
Bill Parcells in an extensive piece. Kraft told him of
Parcells: "I almost fired him right after the draft. I had
it up to here with that guy. It just isn't any fun to go
down there." Kraft wrote a response in a sidebar that
McDonough "has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unable to
produce objective reporting in any story involving me and
Bill Parcells" adding that "someone who knows both Will and
I told me that Will said he was going to 'annihilate' me in
Boston" (BOSTON GLOBE, 2/16)....Former AFL Commissioner Jim
Drucker has selected nine cities as potential sites for an
expansion team he plans to purchase to begin play in '98 or
'99: Buffalo, Chicago, Columbus, Indianapolis, Kansas City,
Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, Seattle and Toronto (PSPR).
...The T-Wolves have sold out their executive boxes for the
remainder of the season and the number of corporate sponsors
is up 20 this season to 68 (T-Wolves)....In L.A., Bob
Nightengale notes the "possibility" of Dodgers Owner Peter
O'Malley returning next year as club president and retaining
a minority interest in the team, permitting him to pursue an
NFL franchise and still be part of the Dodgers (L.A. TIMES,
2/15)....In an "informal, unscientific" survey, L.A. TIMES
readers disapproved of the Angels' new uniforms by more than
     a 2-to-1 ratio (L.A. TIMES, 2/16).
