49ERS GET READY TO FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHT TO A NEW HOME

The S.F. Board of Supervisors is expected to approve
placing a $100M stadium bond issue for the 49ers on the
ballot for June's special election, according to Edward
Epstein of the S.F. CHRONICLE. For the 49ers, "who have
admitted that their campaign to win majority voter approval
for the bonds has gotten off to a faltering start, today's
anticipated victory marks another small step toward
establishing positive momentum" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 2/18).
NEWS & NOTES: The 49ers stadium deal was profiled in
Sunday's S.F. EXAMINER, and analysts say the deal on the
June 3 ballot "appears to involve less exposure than that
risked by any other NFL city that has used public money in
the past decade to build a stadium" (S.F. EXAMINER, 2/16).
...In an EXAMINER "Soundoff" survey, readers voted nearly 2-
to-1 against the public support of a new team stadium. In
the "unscientific survey," 1,192 people voted "yes," while
     2,032 voted "no" (S.F. EXAMINER, 2/17).
