STADIUM NOTES

In Toronto, Lancy Hornby notes a plan to expand Maple
Leaf Gardens remains a "distant possibility." The plan
involves knocking out the west wall and changing the rink's
layout from north-south to east-west, while increasing
capacity to 21,000 (TORONTO SUN, 2/12)....The Raptors are
eyeing March 12 as a possible ground breaking ceremony for
the Air Canada Center site (TORONTO SUN, 2/12)....In
Minneapolis, a bill proposed Monday to put 1,500 slot
machines at Canterbury Park racetrack and donate a portion
of revenues to area sports teams would give $17M annually to
a new Twins' stadium, $6M to the Vikings stadium needs and
$3M for St. Paul's NHL effort, according to the bill's
author, State Sen. Dick Day (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE,
2/12)....Packers President Bob Harlan said the team, seeking
additional revenue sources, is considering leasing out
Lambeau Field for concerts this summer. Harlan estimated
the team could earn as much as $250,000 per concert
     (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 2/12).
