BYE, BYE ORANGE CRUSH AND SNORTING HORSE. BRONCOS ALTER LOGO

In the team's "most dramatic and powerful uniform
change to date," the Broncos have redesigned their logo for
the '97 season, according to Adam Schefter of the DENVER
POST. The new logo, designed by the Broncos, Nike and NFLP,
will be a "sleeker and more modernistic" Bronco and will not
include the traditional "D." The other significant uniform
change is navy blue replacing orange as the dominant color
of the home jerseys. The new logo will be unveiled by mid-
February (DENVER POST, 1/29). The new helmets will be
painted navy blue and feature the team's redesigned logo.
The road jerseys are expected to be white with navy blue
stripes. The team is "also considering" going to blue pants
for road games (Colorado Springs GAZETTE TELEGRAPH, 1/30).
BUCKING MAD: In Denver, columnist Woody Paige: "This is
the worst idea since New Coke. ... The Broncos disappointed
an entire state by losing a playoff game they should have
won, and a lot of voters are about to have another reason
not to approve a new stadium" (DENVER POST, 1/29).
