ARENA: San Jose Arena. Opened: September, '93.
TENANTS: Sharks, CISL Grizzlies, RHI Rhinos, AFL SaberCats.
OWNERSHIP: City of San Jose.
MANAGEMENT: San Jose Arena Management LP.
COST: $167.5M -- $132.5M funded by city of San Jose,
$35M funded by San Jose Arena Management.
CAPACITY: 17,442 for hockey.
LUXURY SUITES: 64 suites: 43 on the upper Penthouse level and 21
on the concourse level.
CLUB SEATING: 3,413 seats in the first 16 rows of the arena.
TICKET PRICES: Range of $15-45. Club seats sell for $63 and $73.
ADVERTISING: Rights owned by the Sharks.
CONCESSIONS: Aramark. Revenues kept by Arena Management.
PARKING: 1,800 spaces on site. 8,000 spaces within walking
distance. Parking costs $7 and $10. Revenue of
managed spaces kept by Arena Management.
LEASE: 30-year agreement.
RENT: $500,000 per year, fixed for years 1-6,
on top of revenue share defined below. Fixed
fee goes up $100,000 per year for years 7-10.
RENOVATIONS: For this season, $7M by San Jose Arena Management
and Sharks towards new video screens, improved
concession stands, Penthouse Plaza and Penthouse
Terrace facilities, as well as a new meeting room.
REVENUE NOTE: San Jose Arena Management company keeps all
revenues and pays the city a share of revenues as
rent, approximately $1M in '95. Revenue share
includes 20% of the luxury suite net revenue, a
share of parking revenue, a share of hockey gross
ticket revenue beginning in the 11th hockey
season, and a share of any naming net revenues.
