NEWSWEEK's special "100 Newsmakers of 1996" issue on
stands from December 2 to January 6 surveys readers on who
is sports' "Newsmaker of the Year." 601 adults, ages 18+,
were asked to chose from a list as to their "Newsmaker of
the Year." The poll, conducted by Princeton Survey Research
Assoc., was taken between September 25-29 and October 8-
November 12. Margin of error +/- 5% (NEWSWEEK, 12/2).
