MSFC COOL TO VIKES STADIUM PROPOSALS; OPEN TO LEASE CHANGE?

          In Minneapolis, Metropolitan Sports Facilities
Commission Chair Henry Savelkoul rejected three options for
public stadium financing offered by Vikings President Roger
Headrick, but was "amenable" to an adjustment of the team's
Metrodome lease, according to Jay Weiner of the Minneapolis
STAR TRIBUNE. Headrick's three options to the MSFC: a $100-
150M renovation of the Metrodome; a $300-350M dual purpose
stadium for the Twins and Vikings; and a $200-250M football-
     only stadium. Savelkoul: "I don't see where there's a
public purpose." Headrick, claiming "the need to find a
solution to our problems is now acute," showed the MSFC
that the Vikings pay more rent than any other NFL team and
rank 24th overall in total revenues. But Weiner notes
without renovating the dome, lease adjustments could bring
the team $9.1M annually (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 12/20).
