CBS SPORTS' MCMANUS GIVES HIS STATE-OF-THE NETWORK ADDRESS

CBS Sports President Sean McManus had his first meeting
with CBS Sports personnel yesterday. In a statement,
McManus gave his initial thoughts on the network. McManus,
on CBS' coverage of college football: "Despite the changing
structure of the Bowl Alliance, CBS Sports will not lessen
its commitment to regular season college football." On
pursuing NFL TV rights: "If we have the opportunity, we will
move forward with a definitive strategy that is being
formulated now. Do we have a shot at the NFL, NBA and Major
League Baseball? Absolutely. We need a pro franchise, and
given the opportunity, we will do everything in our power to
get one." On the image of CBS Sports: "The perception of
CBS Sports is not what it should be and we will change that.
We have a strong and competitive schedule ... the perception
is not the reality. That will change" (CBS).
