GOTCHA! NFL SUES 19 BUSINESSES FOR ALLEGEDLY PIRATING GAMES

The NFL filed three separate lawsuits yesterday against
19 bars, restaurants, and hotels in Maryland, Minnesota and
Nevada for allegedly "illegally intercepting" NFL game
telecasts. In the Baltimore and Las Vegas suits, the NFL
claims that seven local businesses showed NFL games without
an NFL Sunday Ticket commercial license agreement. The
Sunday Ticket agreement allows subscribers to air all Sunday
afternoon local and out-of-market games, with the exception
of games blacked out locally. The Minneapolis lawsuit
charges five businesses with having shown blacked-out home
games of the Vikings (NFL). In Minnesota, Rachel Blount
notes the NFL has sued more than 200 establishments for
signal piracy in the last three years and has won every case
     (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 11/26).
