TEAM MEDIA NOTES: DEAL FOR ORIOLES, CUBS TO BE DROPPED

The Orioles and WBAL-AM in Baltimore reached a three-
year deal to keep the team's games on the 50,000-watt
station, ending a "hotly contested negotiation" involving at
least two other broadcast entities, according to Milton Kent
of the Baltimore SUN. Although financial terms were not
revealed, the team "will likely" collect in excess of $3M a
year from the station (Baltimore SUN, 11/22).
TCI CABLE TO DROP THE CUBS? In St. Louis, Michael
Sorkin notes TCI "may drop" the Cubs' game carrier, WGN. To
"ease the bite" of increased rates, TCI intends to add some
channels to its basic cable service, and to create room, TCI
intends to drop other channels from basic service, including
WGN and Comedy Central (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 11/25).
