RAVENS NOT GROUNDED: MODELL EYES PROFITS IN THE FUTURE

Ravens Owner Art Modell "acknowledged that his team is
loaded in debt at the moment", but "will be golden for the
future" once its new stadium in Baltimore is completed,
according to Will McDonough of the BOSTON GLOBE. Word
around the league was that Modell "was having serious
financial problems and had notified the Finance Committee of
his troubles. Reportedly, he wanted to restructure his
present debt situation, but if he had, he would have gone
over the league limit." Modell: "Moving the team from
Cleveland to Baltimore cost me $120 million, and it will
take another two years before we can start making money
     here" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/24).
