IS QUINN THE SABRES' MEDICINE MAN?

Larry Quinn, who replaced Doug Moss as President of the
Sabres November 1, is the subject of a feature story by James
Fink in the current issue of BUSINESS FIRST OF BUFFALO. Fink
writes that Quinn was hired to both turn around "low employee
morale and public support" and "maximize the potential" of the
new Marine Midland Arena. Quinn said his priorities will be
"more internal and probably less visible to the public" at first,
as he helps the Sabres to "define their mission." At the same
time he will be attempting to book the arena for between 150-200
dates a year. Team consultant and ownership committee member
Northrup Knox: "Larry can't put the puck in the net for us but he
can be the consensus builder who gets everyone pulling their oars
in the right direction." Sabres Vice Chair Robert Rich Jr.: "We
needed a point man to pull it all together. ... There is no doubt
this is a crossroads year for the franchise" (BUSINESS FIRST OF
BUFFALO, 11/11).
