GOLF NEWS & NOTES: TIGER'S MODEL PUTTER HOT ITEM

     Putter manufacturer Scotty Cameron made a limited run of
3,000 Scottydale putters, the same model used by Tiger Woods in
winning the Las Vegas Invitational.  The limited item was
marketed exclusively for Japan.  The putters sold for $900 each,
and according to Cameron, the price is now as high as $10,000 per
putter among collectors (GOLF WORLD, 10/18 issue)....Callaway
Golf reported net sales of $194.5M for the third quarter ended
September 30, a net increase of 25% over net sales of $155.9M
reported in the third quarter of '95 (Callaway)....Slazenger Golf
USA plans to introduce three new golf balls at January's PGA
Merchandise show in Orlando....Former Cub Ernie Banks is part
owner of MetroGolf Inc., which is expected to go public on the
NASDAQ SmallCap Market at an estimated $6-8/share.  MetroGolf
oversees a line of golf centers (GOLF WORLD, 10/18 issue)....The
Augusta Clubhouse, formerly known as The Green Jacket, will
celebrate its grand opening in spring '97, in time for next
year's Masters.  World Golf Hospitality's The Augusta Clubhouse
offers VIP Masters visitors golf corporate hospitality and
special events programs, custom designed to meet clients' exact
specifications (World Golf Hospitality).
