FRANCHISE NOTES

ESPN's Al Morganti writes "don't count on" the Islanders
remaining on Long Island, despite a clause in John Spano's
proposed deal to buy the club stating he cannot move the team.
Morganti: "Watch for Spano to keep the team on the Island for a
couple more seasons until [the team's] lucrative TV contract
expires, and then haul it to either Houston or Nashville" (ESPNET
SportsZone, 10/15)....MLS Commissioner Doug Logan says he plans
to address the Tampa Bay Mutiny's attendance "problems" soon
after the MLS Cup. Logan: "It's very disappointing to have a
team as good as this one and not have greater fan support than it
got. This team is just too good to be drawing 9,000, 10,000,
11,000 a game" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 10/16)....The Cavaliers have new
uniforms this season which feature "flashier" shorts with jersey
numbers and letters in orange outlined in black (Cleveland
PLAIN-DEALER, 10/14).
