     Panthers QB KERRY COLLINS gave his alma mater, Penn State,
$250,000 to establish the annual Kerry Collins Endowed
Scholarship for Quarterbacks (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 10/11)....The
21st Annual All Sports Hall of Fame Dinner to benefit The Boys'
Club of New York is scheduled for October 30 at NYC's Waldorf-
Astoria Hotel.  Those expected to be in attendance include: BOB
COUSY, OSCAR ROBERTSON, ANN MEYERS, BROOKS ROBINSON and ROD
GILBERT   (Hall of Fame Dinner)....MD Gov. PARRIS GLENDENING has
bet NY Gov. GEORGE PATAKI a bushel of Maryland blue crabs against
a bushel of Long Island hard-shell clams on the ALCS series
between the Yankees and the Orioles (WASHINGTON TIMES, 10/11).
