STADIUM NOTES

In Tampa, the Ice Palace hosts its first Lightning game
October 20. Although the city occupancy certificate was
delivered October 3, it will "probably" take another 60-90 days
for the new arena to be completed. The final price for the arena
is $160M, approximately $20M more than the original estimate
(TAMPA TRIBUNE, 10/11)....In Fort Worth, Texas Int'l Raceway
developer Bruton Smith is considering using private corporate
financing to cover the speedway's $110M construction cost rather
than relying on bonds issued through the city-created Fort Worth
Sports Authority. City officials may seek "written assurances"
from Smith that he will continue presenting major auto races at
the speedway rather than shifting them to any new tracks that
might open (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 10/11).
