WILSON TIGHTENS THEIR BELT ON CORPORATE AND GOLF OPERATIONS

Wilson Sporting Goods is downsizing its corporate group and golf division, effective immediately. Eighty-five positions in Wilson's Chicago-based corporate group and golf division are affected and of the total, 15 positions are in the company's Humboldt, TN, golf plant. Wilson will offer transition packages, including outplacement services and severance pay for the employees affected. Wilson President Jim Baugh said the company will not eliminate any categories in its golf line, but will evaluate and may discontinue unprofitable products within select categories. A search is currently underway for a new GM for Wilson Golf (Wilson). Former Golf GM Kim Ignatius resigned before Baugh took over. A Wilson spokesperson told THE DAILY the cuts are concentrated on mid-to-lower-level personnel (THE DAILY).
