SPORTSLINE USA RAISES $16M TO EXPAND WEB-BASED OPERATIONS

SportsLine USA CEO Michael Levy said the company has raised
$16M in private financing to expand operations through next year,
according to Larry Lebowitz of the Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL.
After a corporate board meeting Friday, Levy said the new capital
doubles the company's initial stake. A formal announcement is
expected today. CA-based venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins
Caufiled & Byers has invested more than $5.3M in SportsLine, and
"other inaugural investors who have committed to the latest round
of financing" include New York Life and Reuters NewMedia. Levy
said TCI did not add to its stake, but Denver-based U.S. West has
been added. Levy told board members he expects to exceed $1M in
gross revenues this quarter for the first time (Ft. Lauderdale
SUN-SENTINEL, 9/28).
