LEAGUE NOTES

     Vikings President & CEO Roger Headrick, a member of the
NFL's Broadcast Committee, predicts the league's next TV contract
will include an 18-game regular season schedule.  Regarding a new
TV deal, Headrick said, "I think its going to be competition
[among network bidders] for essentially the same package we
already have."  USA TODAY's Gordon Forbes notes the NFL is
"thinking about staging exhibitions in 80,000-seat college
stadiums, maybe in" Iowa City and Columbus, OH (USA TODAY,
9/26)....MLS officials hope to take its first championship team
to Japan in March to face the Japan-League winner (TAMPA TRIBUNE,
9/26).
