     "Battered by plummeting sales and profits," video-game maker
Acclaim Entertainment yesterday ordered the first layoffs since
the company was established nine years ago (NEWSDAY,
9/20)....Ranier/Walsh Racing Enterprises announced their team
will race Ford cars starting in '97.  With this commitment from
Ford, Charlotte-based Raycom Sports, which handles sponsorship
for the team, is now currently searching for a title sponsor for
the team (Raycom)....Four students won a Fleer sweepstakes where
an NBA player will visit their school.  Fleer's "NBA Hoops Visit
My School Sweepstakes" includes participation by players B.J.
Armstrong, Bobby Sura, Grant Hill, and Dickey Simpkins (Fleer).
