question on how much steroid use there was among linemen at its
height in the NFL: "I don't want to go overboard, but I'd say
about 70 percent." NBC's Cris Collinsworth, in response to
Newton's steroid estimate: "No way. ... The most important
thing they [the NFL] has ever done for this league is to clean up
that steroid mess and take away the competitive edge" ("NFL on
NBC," NBC, 9/15)....ESPN's David Aldridge said the NBA, the 76ers
and agent David Falk are all denying rumors that NBA Security has
contacted the 76ers' Allen Iverson about "friends in his
entourage and asked him to sever his ties to them." Aldridge:
"Word around Washington is that Iverson and his friends have been
frequenting night clubs" (ESPN, 9/13).
