WILL CONTEMPT FOR GLAZER SWING TAMPA VOTE?

     Tampa Mayor Dick Greco is "aghast" at the "contempt" and
"personal attacks" towards Bucs owner Malcolm Glazer from the
citizens of Tampa before Tuesday's referendum on a half-cent tax
increase to help fund a new stadium, according to Joe Henderson
of the TAMPA TRIBUNE.  Greco: "The tax has a chance to pass, but
I'm not very confident about it. .... I hear about a hundred
times a day -- 'I'm not voting for this 'cause I don't like
Glazer'" (Joe Henderson, TAMPA TRIBUNE, 8/28).  TAMPA TRIBUNE
columnist David Whitley writes that Glazer's name are "the two
most reviled words in the Tampa Bay vocabulary."  Whitley advises
voters, "If you think the negatives outweigh the positives, throw
in your half-cent's worth and vote no," but he warns against
"voting no because you want to rub Malcolm Glazer's beard in the
dirt" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 8/27).  The Hillsborough County Hotel &
Motel Association endorsed the tax (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 8/28).
