JRS NAME CHANGE DRAWS IRE FROM ROBBIE FAMILY

Joe Robbie's son, Dan Robbie, yesterday called Dolphins
Owner Wayne Huizenga "an insecure, greedy little man in the
sporting world," willing to sell South FL's sports past for $2M a
year, according to the Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL. Dan Robbie:
"Without my father building Joe Robbie Stadium, there would be no
Florida Marlins, and we probably wouldn't even know who Wayne
Huizenga is -- and wouldn't that be a shame?" Huizenga replied,
"I'm very disappointed and sorry he feels that way. He certainly
is entitled to his opinion." Huizenga Spokesperson Stan Smith:
"We are amazed at such a reaction. When we bought the stadium,
we paid extra for the right to change the name. The Robbie
family was more than willing to sell this right as long as they
received significant monetary gain." Dan Robbie says part of the
deal with Huizenga requires him to erect a statue of Joe Robbie
on stadium grounds if Robbie's name is removed from the building.
Robbie: "After what they've done, there's no fitting tribute"
(Larry Lebowitz, Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 8/28).
