AND 1 TO LAUNCH MARBURY SHOE IN NOVEMBER

Basketball apparel marketer And 1 will launch a Stephon
Marbury signature shoe in November with $2-3M in marketing
support, according to BRANDWEEK. Two-page print ads from The
Brownstein Group, Philadelphia, will break in Slam and The Source
magazines and outdoor and regional print ads will also run in New
York and Minnesota. Marbury grew up in New York and will play
for the Timberwolves. Expect TV ads early next year, with buys
expected on local basketball broadcasts, ESPN and MTV. The
creative element will focus on "breaking ankles," slang for
"leaving a defender in the dust," which will also emphasize the
$80 shoe's claim of improved lateral stability (BRANDWEEK, 8/19
issue).
