ONLINE NEWS & NOTES: JAGS AIM FOR CUTTING EDGE ON WEB

The Jaguars introduced their site on the World Wide Web last
night in conjunction with their game against the 49ers. The site
is at http://www.jaguarsnfl.com. and the team says it is on the
"cutting edge" with its use of multimedia "such as streaming
audio and video that requires no waits for downloads." It is
also the first "showcase site" on Continental Cablevision's new
high-speed Internet service, with the potential for TV-quality
video that will be added as Continental installs high-speed cable
modems in the Jacksonville area. More is planned as the site
develops and more people get cable modems, which Continental will
soon be offering to customers. The site was designed by
Jacksonville-based RAMworks. Officials declined to reveal what
the team spent on the site, but Ed Stansel of the FLORIDA TIMES-
UNION notes the site "is quite extensive ... and growing"
(FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 8/18).
