YOU WON'T LIKE NASCAR FANS WHEN THEY'RE ANGRY

CBS officials said NASCAR fans called with their displeasure
at the network's decision on Sunday to not show the DieHard 500
from Talladega, AL, after a nearly three hour rain delay. When
CBS learned at 3:30pm EDT (after two hours of delay) that the
race would not start for at least another hour, it abandoned
coverage plans. CBS will instead show a tape of the race this
Sunday. The network had a "window" until 6:00pm EDT and was
committed to show the "CBS Evening News" and "60 Minutes." The
race didn't end until 8:20pm EDT. CBS Sports spokesperson
LeslieAnne Wade: "There's no way to make everybody happy."
NASCAR's Kevin Triplett reported "hundreds" of complaints at
their Daytona Beach HQs. Triplett: "They're calling, mad at us.
But we're not involved in the TV" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 7/30).
