CHARLOTTE WEAVES TANGLED WEB WITH UNSOLD PSL'S

The Panthers have yet to sell 4,000 PSLs at Ericsson
Stadium, which at $3,000 each, leave the team without $12M to pay
for its $187M stadium, according to Jon Hechinger of the
CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. One solution is to sell the remaining seats
on a single-game basis, an act that "could anger some PSL
owners." Although the team felt all PSLs would be sold, Panthers
Dir of Business Ops Mark Richardson hopes they will be bought by
mid-October. Richardson: "Once people get inside, the seats
will sell themselves." To that end, the team is offering fans
who do not own tickets, a chance to visit Ericsson Stadium on
Sunday. If seats are empty when the season begins, the NFL's
blackout rule would be in effect and Fox affiliate, WCCB-TV,
couldn't broadcast the games. The team will announce a plan
within the next two weeks to address the sellout and blackout
problem if the PSLs aren't sold (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 7/26).
