BIRD FIGHT IN BALTIMORE

     The Orioles and the Maryland Stadium Authority are at odds
over the timing of construction on the nearby Ravens stadium
which will cut parking for Orioles games this season. The
Baltimore SUN reports, under the construction schedule to open
the Ravens new home by '98, the O's will have "slightly less"
than the 5,000 parking spaces originally allotted for August;
4,000 spaces from September 6-12; and 3,000 for September 20-22.
There would be even fewer spaces should the O's make the
playoffs. MSA Chair John Moag cites a tight schedule and says
the O's were prepped for losses. Moag: "We have to follow our
schedule as closely as possible. When you lose even two weeks at
the front end of a project like this, it throws everything else
off" (Olney & LaCanfora, Baltimore SUN, 7/17).
