STADIUM NOTES

     After a meeting with Harris County Judge Robert Eckels,
Astros Owner Drayton McLane said he has yet to receive a "firm
offer for a new baseball stadium" but will meet again with the
judge in a few days (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 7/11). ...Fairfax County
Supervisor Robert Dix resigned Monday from his position as the
Virginia Baseball Stadium Authority's Vice Chair after VA Gov.
George Allen passed him over in naming Loudoun County banker
Kenneth Corvo as the new Chair of the agency.  Corvo was a
current member of the Stadium Authority (WASHINGTON POST,
7/11)....Victory Field, the new $18M baseball stadium for the
Indianapolis Indians, will open today and the team expects to
draw 600,000 fans to the park next season (INDIANAPOLIS STAR AND
NEWS, 7/11).
