CNN examined QB-turned-businessman Fran Tarkenton in last night's edition of "The Competitive Edge." According to CNN's John Metaxes, Tarkenton is "keeping up the pace in the business world," starting 10 businesses and giving 16 speeches a year to corporate audiences, appearances which earn Tarkenton close to $1M a year by themselves. Tarkenton is trying to "beat corporate America to the punch in providing goods and services to a growing league of small businesses." His aim is to help small businesses through the "intricacies of conducting commerce via computer." One Tarkenton "blemish" is a company called Knowledgewear that earned Tarkenton $40M but later "stumbled after the technology didn't pan out" ("Moneyline," CNN, 6/27).
