MEANWHILE BACK AT THE RANCH: PEROT'S GOT BIG PLANS FOR TEAM
Published May 7, 1996
New Mavericks Owner Ross Perot, Jr. plans to request an intricate rezoning of 2,000-acre Circle T Ranch that would pave the way for 10,000 apartments, homes, a shopping district and possibly a new arena for the Mavs and Stars. The FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM's Miles Moffeit writes, during the time Perot was finalizing the deal to buy the Mavericks, he officials told Westlake planners they wanted to add a sports arena to their blueprints of the site. Perot purchased the working cattle ranch, located between Alliance and Dallas-Fort Worth Airports, in '93 and is pushing for about $96M in infrastructure improvements through a special taxing district (FORT WORTH STAR- TELEGRAM, 5/7).
