NBC AND AFFILIATES AGREE TO OLYMPICS RIGHTS FEE DEAL

As reported in the current BROADCASTING & CABLE, NBC's
affiliates have agreed to pay $275M toward the network's rights
fees for the Olympics. Part of the money will come in the form
of an exchange of commercial time -- affiliates will give back
five spots per week in the "Today" show, five spots per week in
the "Tonight" show, and five spots per week in "Meet the Press."
In exchange, affiliates will get four primetime units in "Mad
About You," NBC's Saturday night line-up and one other show. The
swap starts in January and run through 2002. The affiliates and
NBC are working to share profits of future Olympics if NBC's
Olympic sales exceed a to-be-determined amount (AD AGE, 5/24).
