TICKET TALK: WHAT SPONSORS ARE DOING WITH UNUSED TICKETS

ACOG wants sponsors to return unwanted tickets so they can
be resold to the public during the Games, according to the
ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. If a ticket is resold, ACOG would split
face value with the sponsor. But the sponsors would prefer to do
ticket business "inside their own family." For sponsors, it
makes more sense to get full value from another company, or give
tickets away to employees and clients rather than return them to
ACOG. When the Games begin, several companies plan to donate
unused tickets to charity for a tax write-off. Advantage
International's Lance Hill: "Officially, what you're supposed to
do is give your tickets back to ACOG. But the big players do
what they want to do" (Melissa Turner, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION,
5/23).
