     In Baltimore, Milton Kent credits ABC with a "brilliant
production" of the Preakness after much criticism of the net's
Kentucky Derby performance (Baltimore SUN, 5/19).... NASCAR and
Sierra On-Line have developed the "NASCAR Racing League," an
online interactive league allowing fans to compete via modem.
The league will be available to all users of Papyrus' "NASCAR
Racing" CD-ROM (NASCAR)....INSIDE MEDIA profiles the Web site
SportsLine USA, noting that the "next major addition" will be an
area devoted to Shaquille O'Neal and his sponsors (INSIDE MEDIA,
5/15 issue).... NEWSWEEK's "Cyberscope" profiles Instant
Baseball, noting, "Once again a web site has proven the Net's
real killer application is sports information" (NEWSWEEK, 5/27
issue). ....The RHI Vancouver VooDoo, owned by Orca Bay Sports &
Entertainment, have launched their own Web site (VooDoo)....
GOLFWORLD reports the awarding of British Open TV rights to the
BBC through 2001 was a "defeat" for Sky Sports and partner IMG.
In addition, the "uncomfortable" nature of negotiations may mean
IMG's Mark McCormack could lose his role as an Open analyst
(GOLFWORLD, 5/17 issue)....Chris Evert Charities has established
a site on the Web, at http://www.cvinc.com/chrisevert (Chris
Evert/Ellesse).... British Telecom and BSkyB are in "advanced
negotiations" on jointly developing digital TV and interactive
services in the UK (FINANCIAL TIMES, 5/18-19)....The N.Y. TIMES
examines the practice of putting corporate annual reports on the
Web, with Reebok being one company cited (N.Y. TIMES, 5/19).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
