At least 500 tickets were handed out free by UMass for its first-ever Final Four appearance at the Meadowlands this year and the list of recipients is a virtual "Who's Who of Boston politics and media," reports David Armstrong of the BOSTON GLOBE. Of the 2,500 tickets the school was allotted, 816 went to students, 731 to season ticket holders and the rest, many of them unpaid, were given to MA business leaders, politicians, university contributors and sports figures, including 146 to UMass President William Bulger for personal distribution (BOSTON GLOBE, 5/9).
