The Seahawks Kingdome Renovation Task Force said it will be
midsummer or later before they recommend whether the Kingdome can
be renovated or a new facility be built instead (SEATTLE POST-
INTELLIGENCER, 4/30).....In Florida, a 4% hotel tax aimed to help
finance a new Bucs stadium was declared "officially dead"
yesterday after pressure from Hillsborough County hotel
operators. Officials now turned their attention to a sales tax
increase, which also "faces long odds" (TAMPA TRIBUNE,
4/30)....The Greensboro Coliseum could be fined or lose its
license to sell alcohol after serving daiquiris to two sixth-
graders at a minor league hockey game (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER,
4/29)....Stadium consultant Lou Beer, who is advising the Tiger
Stadium Fan Club and working with the Lions to agree on a new
lease at the Silverdome, is profiled in CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS.
Beer has recommended retail and other commercial development at
the Silverdome to generate new tax revenue for Pontiac and new
stadium revenue for the Lions (CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS, 4/22
issue)....Rose Bowl and Pasadena officials were pleased with
improvements in crowd control for the Galaxy's second game, which
drew over 40,000 (L.A. TIMES, 4/29).
