ABE POLLIN AND BET'S JOHNSON EXTEND OLIVE BRANCH ON ARENA

Bullets/Caps Owner Abe Pollin and BET President Robert
Johnson "have reached a truce in their bitter fight over a
downtown sports arena and are talking about exploring joint
business ventures," according to Miller & Solomon of the
WASHINGTON POST. Johnson has agreed to drop a suit challenging
DC's selection of Pollin to build the arena, and agreed not to
"carry out the threat to sue both the District and Pollin for
alleged antitrust violations." Johnson receives no money and "no
guarantee that Pollin will enter into any business deals with
him." But the agreement allows for "personal friendship to
explore mutually beneficial business opportunities" (WASHINGTON
POST, 4/24). Johnson reiterated his interest in being part owner
of one of Pollin's teams and in broadcasting events from MCI
Center and USAir Arena. But he said there was "no specific deal
beyond cleaning the slate" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 4/24).
