VIKINGS PRESIDENT ROGER HEADRICK PUSHES FOR CODE OF CONDUCT

In the wake of recent negative off-field incidents involving
NFL players, Vikings President & CEO Roger Headrick is "quietly
lobbying" for a league-wide code of conduct, according to ESPN's
Chris Mortensen. Headrick has spoken with NFL Commissioner Paul
Tagliabue and other owners about "explicit language that would
not only govern players, but all members of an organization,
including owners and coaches." Headrick feels the current player
contract clause on disciplinary action is too vague,
discretionary and difficult to enforce in the off-season. He
further believes if some action is not taken, the NFL may face
"significant damage to its image" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 4/16).
