SABRES' NEW DUDS HAVE A LITTLE BLACK, LITTLE WHITE, LITTLE..

The Sabres unveiled their new uniforms for the '96-97 season
to a capacity crowd of over 16,000 fans in Memorial Auditorium.
The new look features the head of the Buffalo and a sabre on
black, white, red, gray, and silver jerseys and pants (Sabres).
"Laser lights, rock 'n roll, dry ice, and a packed house of 16,00
fans, many of them mobbing the souvenir stands. A U2 concert?
No, just the debut" of the Sabres new uniforms, according to the
N.Y. POST. The turnout was reportedly twice what the team
expected, and they will don their new jerseys for Sunday's home
finale. Sabres President Doug Moss: "What we're trying to do is
revive interest in Sabres hockey. I said we were in the
entertainment business" (AP/N.Y. POST, 4/12).
